Letters from our readers

We all want effective reports about how our tax money helps others gain better living opportunities, health benefits by fighting AIDS, T.B. and malaria in underdeveloped countries.
I want your readership to know that the Global Fund, which was created in 2003, has been responsible for saving 6.5 million lives abroad.
It has given treatment to more than 3 million people with HIV/Aids abroad. Some 7.7 million were treated and tested for T.B. and 160 million bed nets were sent for families to prevent malaria.
This funding needs to continue without government cuts. Every dollar spent in the United States toward this fund has been matched with $2 from other donors worldwide. I urge citizens to write their senators to reach out to others, which is the way to improve all of mankind.
